Cross Community Church: Preach the Gospel, Make Disciples!
Pastor Taylor Burgess’ heart was burdened upon learning that nearly 90% of Beaufort County’s population was unchurched and he felt called to reach this small, military community. His dream of planting a church became reality when Cross Community Church (Beaufort, SC) launched in 2016.
As the lead and founding pastor, Pastor Taylor and the elder church board have seen God’s hand in their ministry as attendance continues to rise. From 2017-2021, attendance doubled from 300 to 600. The church was intentional in reaching their community during COVID, offering online and socially distanced services. Their sustained growth over five years is due in part to their loyal congregation and their dedication to supporting Cross Community Church’s mission.
In February 2021, Cross Community Church partnered with CDF Capital to build their first phase on their new property. Because of the church’s proximity to water, the building was constructed on piers giving it a low country flair while maintaining the needed elevation for rising tides and storms. The design has truly served the church well and the building will continue to be a great tool for ministry for decades.
The building was dedicated mid-June 2023 and an official celebration was held at the end of the month. Being used as the hub for ministry, outreach, and discipleship, this aligns with the church’s vision statement: Preach the Gospel, Make Disciples.
Holding three services a week, Cross Community Church is reaching nearly 800 people in the new building. This is creating great momentum for the future, and they have started discussing a second phase of construction! Their heartbeat for ministry and membership covenant, includes:
