Three Big Questions

Three big questions guide all we do at CDF Capital:

What do we do?

Of course, the first question is, what do we do? CDF Capital’s mission answers this in just a few words: we help churches grow. While this statement answers what we do, the next two questions are just as important.

How do we do it?

How do we help churches grow? CDF Capital is a unique ministry. In order to help churches grow, we provide three distinct types of capital.

The most obvious is Financial Capital. Since our founding in the early 1950s, we have helped nearly 1,000 churches with loans totaling over $1.75 billion to buy land, build new buildings, or expand existing buildings. This has been our bread and butter for over 60 years. But as you know, there are many other organizations that provide loans to churches.

What makes us truly unique is that we go far beyond providing Financial Capital by adding Leadership Capital and Spiritual Capital to the mix. In fact, we believe these two additional types of capital are even more important than Financial Capital.

In 2014 we launched CDF’s Leadership Capital services. Since that time, we have served several hundred churches with critical leadership coaching and organizational consulting that is changing the direction and velocity of leadership teams as they seek to grow the congregations entrusted to them by God.

And of course, Spiritual Capital is at the heart of what makes churches unique. In just the last few weeks, our family of 10,000+ investors around the country came together to provide prayer support for church leaders struggling through the effects of hurricanes, fires, and tragic shootings. That is just one small example of our efforts to make sure churches have the spiritual support and health needed to serve this broken world.

When God brings His perfect mix of these three types of capital to a church, we believe that is when transformation begins. In other words, this is Transformational Capital.

Why do we do it?

Finally, why do we do what we do? There are a couple of reasons:

  1. We believe that every person is on a spiritual journey, and they need Jesus Christ as the Author and Guide for that journey.
  2. Christian churches are the key to spreading the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

The stories in the Fall 2017 edition of The Cornerstone are just a small sample of the way God is using the ministry of CDF Capital in His church. The photo on the cover is the most important way we measure our work. It is not about the number of loans or total dollars in our fund—it is about the lives changed for eternity by their relationship with Jesus Christ.

While you keep investing your savings at CDF Capital, we will keep investing in the dreams of leadership teams at churches across the country. With God’s blessing, this will result in church growth—and millions more will enter into eternity with Jesus. There is no greater mission on earth. And all of you who join CDF Capital as investors are on the same mission with us!
