A Call to Prayer for New York and Sutherland Springs

I fear that 2017 is a year that will be long remembered more for tragedy than anything else.

It saddens me to be reaching out to you once again in the face of not one, but two unspeakable horrors less than a week apart, for your prayer and support. First, the attack in New York City last Tuesday that killed 8 and wounded over a dozen. Then, the gruesome massacre Sunday in Sutherland Springs, Texas, that has left 26 dead and more than twenty wounded.

I ask that you join me in praying for the churches and ministers at work in NYC as they help those most affected.

I ask that you join me in praying for the ministers and leaders of First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs as they deal with the aftermath.

From NYC, home to 8.5M people to, Sutherland Springs, home to a little more than 300, we pray against a spirit of fear. Psalm 56:3 (NIV) says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Pray with me that the faithful in NYC and in Sutherland Springs put their trust in Him.

We are in the process of contacting our partner churches and will update you on their efforts to support and help recover from these tragedies.
