Estate Planning Choices

President Theodore Roosevelt is quoted saying, “In every moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”

It seems that life is a series of choices. We decide to take actions to alleviate discomfort and solve problems. We hope and pray for the discernment to choose our course wisely, and if we do it well, our efforts will be rewarded.

When it comes to estate planning, you also have choices:

  • Choice #1 is to do nothing, and your estate will be decided by a court. But that court does not know you and may not understand the fallout of their decisions. Family members may be disgruntled. Probate and other legal costs may reduce the overall value. Your ministries will not benefit.
  • Choice #2 is to write a will to outline your wishes, which helps but does nothing to stave off potential problems of probate.
  • Choice #3 is to create a revocable living trust. With a Trust, you can avoid probate, provide for your family and the ministries that are important to you, and do all you can to ensure your family members are still hugging each other long after you are gone—passed away, crossed-over, no longer with us—or however you prefer to phrase it.

No matter how you phrase it, the benefits of a quality plan are real.

One more choice today—and this one seems easy. You can download your free copy of our ebook, A Guide to Revocable Living Trusts below. It is free, there is no cost or obligation.
