Prayer in Every Season

Let them praise the Lord for His great love and for the wonderful things He has done for them. For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. —Psalm 107:8-9

The annual ebb and flow of church ministry can be interesting to observe. There is a rhythm and cadence that often provides predictability over time. There is a pattern to church life in America, and that pattern lends itself to the seasons of life. If churches support families, then it is those families who rightfully dictate this rhythm.

For example, now is a time for most every church in America when senior ministers have returned from some form of summer vacation and are launching full speed into the autumn church programs.

This is a GREAT time for us to celebrate and pray for our leaders. This is the time when the fruit of their Sabbath rest will result in spiritual impact for their congregations.

Often we find ourselves compelled to pray for others in the midst of difficulties, in the midst of crisis, or in the midst of discouragement. But what if we prayed, earnestly and without reservation, for each other in the normal times? What if we prayed for blessing where blessing is being given? How much more could God do through us and through our churches if we multiplied our prayers in the positive times, rather than just reserving our prayers for the fights of life?

We have that opportunity now, during this season. While our ministers are launching into the days ahead, let’s pray that God fills their sails with wind and provides momentum beyond what they can even hope for!

“Lord, we pray for the leaders of your church, that you will use this time to launch your vision for them, renew their vigor for your church, and bring your satisfaction to those who serve you so well."

Will you pray this prayer for your ministers this week?
