A Better Story for Tina Boyd

How many times have we all had the chance to enter to win something? How many times are we slightly disappointed when our names do not get called? Tina Boyd didn’t think much about it when she entered her name in the CDF Capital booth drawing at the North American Christian Convention (NACC). She knew that there was a chance she could win, but also knew that her chances could be slim.

“We are intended to tell our stories. He still gets to use our brokenness and our hurt for His good.”

At this year’s NACC, CDF Capital wanted to do something different for the booth drawing prize. What gift could be given that is valued and cherished? Time spent with family and friends. Instead of giving an item, the prize was an experience.  In 2 Corinthians 4:18b, Paul states, “For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” It’s the relationships that are formed in day to day that are unseen. These are what matter most.

As it turns out, God had bigger plans than what we, at CDF Capital, could have imagined. It was a God moment for Tina when she was announced as the 2016 Cruise Giveaway winner. When we got the chance to sit down with Tina and ask her about her story she was more than willing to share.

It was clear when talking to Tina, how she uses her gifts to reflect God’s love. Tina’s faith is the most important thing she holds dear. It was the thing that she held onto when one moment and one detrimental accident shocked her entire life course.

Tina Boyd’s Journey: Faith Will Move You Forward

It was any other day for Tina. She was on her way with her daughter, Olivia to drop off paint ball supplies to her son. She and her family had just moved back to Virginia from California and she wasn’t completely familiar with the roads. She reached down for the directions on her passenger seat, and in that moment she hit a bicyclist. It was one glance away from the road and one fleeting thought. In that one moment, the bicyclist lost his life.

Tina’s recovery was tumultuous, overbearing at times, and constant. After years of prayer, battling PTSD, and intimate moments with God, she came out of that experience stronger than ever in her faith. Through her recovery, she wrote the book, The Ride of Your Life: Faith Will Move You Forward. She journaled daily for nine years about her experience with the moment that changed her life, recovery and who she is now.

Tina still prays for the family that lost their loved one every single day. Tina exclaims that, “I know I’ve been redeemed. I know I’ve been forgiven and I’m happier now than I have ever been in my life.”

Tina and her daughter, Olivia, speak all over the country about their incident. They speak about how that moment will always be a part of their lives, but it’s not the end of their story. They are able to bring hope and inspiration back to others. Which is another reason why Tina loves working for an organization called Christian Bling.

Christian Bling sells artisan jewelry with meaningful messages that are inspired by faith. As the National Sales Director, Tina is able to inspire and encourage women through God’s message of hope and forgiveness. The company also empowers the lifestyle of being a mom, being a business woman, and being a woman of faith.

A Better Story

What drew Tina to 2016 NACC? It was the message about having a better story.  This has been the theme for her life, especially experiencing firsthand what this meant. She knew in that moment that she was being called to attend.

Tina shares that, “A better story is still in my story. I had an amazing time at NACC. All the time, I was able to share with people the message of Christian Bling. We signed women up, sold jewelry, and connected with a lot of people at the convention. Together as believers, we are writing this story. We all have a better story. God doesn’t want us to hide that. We are intended by God to tell our stories. He still gets to use our brokenness and our hurt for His good.”

Tina recalls visiting the CDF Capital booth in Provision Village. She thought, “The coffee was brilliant and the block party was awesome. It was such a good idea because you got to socialize with people you may not have socialized with beforehand. I didn’t spend as much time at any other booth as the CDF Capital booth, because of those things!”

              “I know I’ve been redeemed.”

She started talking with people in the booth and was generally interested in CDF Capital. Tina signed up to for the cruise drawing, not because she thought she would win but for more information and to hear stories of transformation. Just as God intended, in a random drawing after the conference, Tina was selected the winner. Tina plans on using this gift from CDF Capital for her 30th Wedding Anniversary with her husband!

As our conversation with Tina came to an end, she passed a lesson that she had learned from her journey. She encouraged that, “Any life challenge you have there is a reason to better yourself, even if you caused it, God wants to use it. There’s beauty in all of it. If you aren’t wide open and listening to it, you won't grow. God wants you to grow. You can’t get through the challenges without faith. Try to have courage to share your story so you can help others. He doesn’t want us to walk in shame. Until we have the courage to open up, we’re never going to be what God told us to be.”

Thank you Tina for continuing to inspire, encourage and love everyone you meet with your story.

This is just one of the many reasons why we, at CDF Capital, enjoy connecting with others. CDF Capital believes in the relationships and time that is spent reflecting Christ’s love and forgiveness. What has inspired you lately? How has God been working in your story?
